Idaho was originally supposed to be a quick stop on my road trip through the Rocky Mountains. While driving through and seeing its beauty, I decided to take my time to truly appreciate the scenery. The first thing that caught my eye was an abandoned watchhouse atop a hill. There was something about it that made me recognize the passage of time and wonder what it meant to its owner many years ago.
After exploring the watchhouse, we hit the road again. As we we drove through, I spotted this house with the mountains as a backdrop—just in time to capture and immortalize that moment from the moving car. Looking back now, it’s funny to think that if I hadn’t been fully present at that moment, I would have missed out on capturing what has become one of my favorite pieces.
